Providing local access to training and clinical exposure for Aboriginal Wellness Worker Trainees

The Challenge

There is a chronic shortage of mental health professionals in rural and remote Australia, particularly those with the skills and cultural understandings to safely engage with Aboriginal people experiencing suicidal ideation.

Theory of Change

Growing the workforce of Aboriginal Wellness Workers through training and clinical expsoure in rural areas will improve access to appropriate and cutlurally safe mental health care and reduce the prevalance of suicide in rural Aboriginal communities.
